Wheeled Personal Transport Devices on Ore Cart Shuttles
These guidelines outline the safe and responsible transportation of wheeled personal transport devices (WPTDs) on Ore Cart shuttle vehicles. They apply to all riders utilizing the Ore Cart service who wish to transport a wheeled personal transport device.
Note: These guidelines do not apply to wheelchairs or other ADA mobility devices.
Exterior Bike Rack Use
Approach and Boarding
- Always approach the shuttle from the curb.
- Wait on the curb with your bicycle until the shuttle comes to a complete stop.
Preparation
- Remove any loose or unsecured items from your bicycle prior to loading.
- Loose items include anything not permanently attached or secured with a strap, bolt, or mounted fixture.
Loading and Unloading
- Wait for the vehicle operator’s direction before loading or unloading your bicycle.
- Ensure the bicycle is properly secured in the rack before boarding the shuttle.
Size and Weight Limits
- Maximum tire width: 5 inches
- Maximum weight: 60 lbs
Rider Responsibilities
- Riders must be able to independently lift and secure their bicycle on the rack.
- Riders are responsible for their bicycle at all times during transport.
Emergency Procedures
- In the event of an emergency evacuation, bicycles should remain on the rack unless otherwise directed by Ore Cart staff or emergency personnel.
Wheeled Personal Transport Devices Inside Shuttles
Small wheeled personal transport devices- such as foldable scooters, skateboards, and one-wheels- are permitted inside the shuttle under the following conditions:
- The device must fit on your lap or fully under your seat.
- The device must be secured and not pose a safety hazard.
- The device must not obstruct aisles, doorways, or ADA-designated spaces.
- The device must not occupy additional seating needed for other passengers.
